Our Mission

The mission of the Department of Community Services is to improve the quality of life for all residents with an emphasis on poverty reduction and addressing the needs of vulnerable populations in the Louisville Metro Community.

Performance Improvement Summary

Louisville Metro Department of Community Services strives to improve the quality of life for all residents, reduce poverty and to provide services that move individuals and families to self-sufficiency.

Community Services has worked on improving how residents in need can access services. One way this has been accomplished is through the creation of a standard assessment that can be filled out by staff on behalf of clients.  This assessment serves to inform clients of all the programs in Community Services for which they could be eligible. Community Services is also in the planning process for the development of the assessment that can be accessed and completed directly by a client through a web-based portal. This will increase the access to Community Services’ programs (perhaps adding additional programs outside of Community Services) and provide positive outcomes for clients seeking to access these programs.
