Our Mission

The mission of the human resources department is to support the goals and challenges of Louisville Metro Government by providing services that promote a work environment that is characterized by fair treatment of staff, open communications, safety, personal accountability, trust and mutual respect. We will seek and provide solutions to workplace issues that support and optimize the operating principles of the organization.

Performance Improvement Summary

Metro Human Resources is one of the backbone departments that keep Metro Government functioning at a high level. Their actions affect a great deal of processes and goals within other Metro Agencies, so it is important to them to continually improve their processes so that other departments can improve as well. Notably, the department has completed process improvement projects to decrease the time it takes to complete the hiring process, reducing the number of positions that take longer than 50 days to fill, and keeping the most current levels near zero positions over 50 days.

Also worth mentioning, Metro HR’s Safety team has stepped up its efforts in recent years to shift the culture of Metro Government to one of safety for not only the employees, but the citizens as well. While HR’s safety numbers hold steady around goal level, the Safety team works with all Metro departments and has seen a positive change across the enterprise in the safety related metrics, allowing them to adjust their goals to a more challenging mark.
