Our Mission

The mission of Louisville Metro Parks & Recreation is to create a City of Parks and provide recreation programs that will enhance the quality of life for citizens of Louisville Metro by maintaining and acquiring attractive, vibrant parks and recreation facilities, offering safe, diverse programs, and protecting these lands and resources for future generations.

Performance Improvement Summary

A Nationally Accredited Parks and Recreation agency, Louisville’s Parks & Recreation department connects people to places and opportunities that support and grow a sustainable community. 

Through its continuous improvement efforts, Parks & Recreation has reduced its hours lost due to work related illness and injury from a baseline of 631 total hours to 276 total hours. The department has multiple continuous improvement projects currently underway, with particular attention focused on improving safety and the internal process to safeguard assets.
